Petr Somol

AI Research Director, GenDigital (Czech Republic)

Petr works as Director of Artificial Intelligence Research at GenDigital (formerly Avast Software and Norton LifeLock). Over the past 10 years, he has led several industry research teams working on AI. These teams have delivered AI engines to Cisco Cognitive Threat Analytics and Norton Genie, among others. Prior to that, Petr worked for over 20 years as a research scientist at the Czech Academy of Sciences and briefly at Cambridge University in the UK. In 2000 he received his PhD from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. As a scientist, Petr has lectured at conferences on selected aspects of artificial intelligence around the world. Petr's long-term interest is building bridges between industry and academia to the benefit of both. Petr lives in Prague and Mariánské Lázně.
